Hydrogeologic and Water-Quality Characteristics of the Upper Carbonate Aquifer in Minnesota (open access)

Hydrogeologic and Water-Quality Characteristics of the Upper Carbonate Aquifer in Minnesota

Introduction: The U.S. Geological Survey began a study in 1980 of the quality of water in the 14 principal aquifers in Minnesota. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency funded the study as part of the Underground Injection Control Program, which deals with disposal of liquid wastes beneath land surface. The initial report designated the 14 aquifers and provided general information about their geologic, hydrologic, and water-quality characteristics (Adolphson and others, 1981). This report, one in a series that describes individual aquifers in more detail, concerns the Upper Carbonate aquifer.

Water Resources of the Lower Rio Grande De Manati Valley, Puerto Rico (open access)

Water Resources of the Lower Rio Grande De Manati Valley, Puerto Rico

From introduction: This report summarizes the results of the study in the Manati-Barceloneta area. The study includes an analysis of the availability of water from both surface and ground-water sources, and water quality. The major focus of the study was the alluvial valley of Rio Grande de Manati north of Highway 2. Areas outside of the valley were included as necessary only to the degree in which these influence the local hydrology.

Map Showing Outcrops of Basaltic Rocks of Early Quaternary and Tertiary Age, Basin and Range Province, Southern California (open access)

Map Showing Outcrops of Basaltic Rocks of Early Quaternary and Tertiary Age, Basin and Range Province, Southern California

From introduction: This map report is one of a series of geologic and hydrologic maps covering all or parts of States within the Basin and Range province of the western United States. The map reports contain detailed information on subjects that characterize the geohydrology of the province, including the ground-water hydrology, ground-water quality, surface distribution of selected rock types, tectonic conditions, areal geophysics, Pleistocene lakes and marches, and mineral and energy resources This is part of the U.S. Geological Survey's program for geologic and hydrologic evaluation of the province to identify prospective regions for further study relative to isolation of high-level nuclear waste.

Altitude and Generalized Configuration of the Top of the Floridian Aquifer, St. Johns County, Florida

From introduction: This map shows the approximate altitude and configuration of the top of the Floridian aquifer...This map was prepared from geologic, geophysical, and drillers' logs on file with the Florida Bureau of Geology, U.S. Geological Survey, St. Johns River Water Management District, and from logs in published reports.
