The Effects of Perceived Sex-Appropriateness of a Task on Performance of Selected Sports Skills

Recent literature reveals that sex differences in performance actually might be reflections of sex differences in perceptions about the sex-appropriateness and the masculinity and femininity of certain activities. Therefore, this study was designed to determine the effects of perceived sex-appropriateness of a task upon performance of selected sport skills.

Color Concepts for the Art Student

The problem of this study is to determine the degree to which color concepts should be taught to the art student. There is a survey of the awareness of color through art history, the introduction of certain historical and recent information in the fields of physics, physiology, and psychology in relation to color and the art student, a review of the symbolic nature of color, an examination of the development of color notation or theories utilized by art students, and an attempt to integrate color more fully with the other art elements.

An Analysis of Attribution Patterns of Internally and Externally Controlled Children After Playing a Computer Video Game

The focus of this study was to determine how attribution patterns of children with an internal or external locus of control differ when playing a computer video game. Forty subjects each (twenty internally controlled and twenty externally controlled) were placed in a competitive or non-competitive treatment setting with a successful or unsuccessful outcome. Each subject played a computer video game made by a major manufacturer. At the completion of each session, each subject was asked to rate the four attributes of ability, effort, task difficulty, and luck. The results were then analyzed using analysis of variance with age as a covariate.

Errors in Looping and Assignment by Novice Assembly Language Programmers

The problem with which this investigation is concerned is an analysis of errors in looping and assignment made by novice assembly language computer programmers. This analysis is made after subjects write three computer programs. The verbal definition of the problem for each program specifies, without naming, either a for, while, or repeat looping structure. The purposes of the study are the following; to determine whether using the appropriate looping structure is related to writing a correct program; to determine the incidence of assignment errors in incorrect programs; to determine the degree of relationship between mathematical aptitude, and the type of assignment errors made; to determine the degree of relationship between use of the appropriate looping structure and mathematical, verbal, and scholastic aptitude; to determine the degree of relationship between gender and use of the appropriate looping structure, and to determine the degree of relationship between gender and the number of assignment errors.

A Study of Burnout Levels Among Community College Administrators

This study examined the extent of job-related burnout among Dallas County Community College Administrators. The levels of burnout among the participants were assessed with the Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI). This questionnaire seeks to measure the frequency and intensity of the three components of burnout—emotional exhaustion, depersonalization and lack of a sense of personal accomplishment.
