To provide detailed and accurate electric fields in the ion source-puller region and at the dee dummy-dee gap for a cyclotron, a relaxation method solution of Laplace's equation has been used. A conventional difference equation with variation in mesh size and relaxation factor as well as different schemes for boundary corrections have been developed to achieve roughly 1 percent accuracy for a thre-dimensional domain with 10/sup 6/ mesh points. Although the computation requires considerable computer time, it is much less expensive than electrolytic tank analogue methods for measuring field distributions around complex electrode configurations.

From Introduction: "The Montana Quadrangle of the National Topographic Map Series (NTMS), scale 1:250,000, in west-central Colorado was evaluated for geologic environments favorable for uranium deposits."

From purpose and study: The Durango Quadrangle, southwest Colorado (Fig. 1), was evaluated to identify geologic units and to delineate areas that exhibit characteristics favorable for uranium deposits. Geologic environments were evaluated to a depth of 1500 m based on recognition criteria (Mickle and Mathews, eds., 1978) prepared for the National Uranium Resource Evaluation (NURE) program. A favorable environment, as defined for this program, is an environment that could contain at least 100 tons U308 in deposits with an average grade no less than 100 ppm U308 . Environments that did not meet the NURE criteria were categorized as unfavorable. Some of the subsurface and several areas of restricted access were categorized as unevaluated because insufficient data exist for proper evaluation.

"Results of a reconnaissance geochemical survey of the Scottsbluff Quadrangle are reported. Field and laboratory data are presented for 567 groundwater and 402 stream sediment samples. statistical distributions and symbol plots for uranium and possible uranium-related variables are enclosed. A generalized geologic map and a producing horizon map for the survey area are provided. Pertinent geologic factors that may be of significance in evaluating the potential for uranium mineralization are briefly discussed."
