Dress

Evening ensemble consisting of: A) Evening dress of light green silk chiffon in green and white leaf pattern with large pink and red chrysanthemum flowers at hem. Green satin spaghetti straps matching piping around upper edge of bodice; empire waist. Bodice is covered in matching bugle beads that accentuate the pattern of the fabric. Floor length. Center back opening of snaps and hook & eyes on bodice, zipper on lining below waist hidden by snaps on outer layer. Under layer of green chiffon; lining of green rayon. Designer's label to left of opening on bodice: "Hanae Mori (Japanese symbols)" Size "6" tag at base of designer label. Fiber content and cleaning instructions tag above designer label. B) Jacket of green silk chiffon in same pattern as dress. Fully beaded in bugle beads that accentuate the pattern of the fabric. Scalloped edges follow the pattern of the print. Long sleeves; rounded neckline. Right side, wrap around snap closure follows edge of large pink flower on left. Lined in green silk chiffon; padded shoulders.

Men’s vest of silk/acetate blend with eight-pointed star, round laurel leaf, and rope filigree motif. Five button closure with black cotton trim. Welt pockets with zipper closures. Back is black silk quilted with red/brown topstitching, vent at center back, bottom hem with two snap closures. Sleeveless with generous armscyes. Bottom hem ribbed cotton knit of varying patterns. Evening dress/ballgown of black with white polka dots taffeta. Full length, slightly flared skirt with spaghetti strap shoulders. Bodice of six layers of black and matching polka dot pleated ruffles. Under structure of black taffeta is straight with 16" added gathered ruffle at hemline to give fullness to dress. Beaded dress

Evening dress of turquoise blues and shades of pink silk chiffon with beaded bodice. Full-length dress has 3 pink chrysanthemum flowers, one wraps around left side bodice, one at center front hemline, and other at center back hemline of skirt. The pattern of the petals continues beyond the flowers in shades of turquoise blue. Round neckline and hemlines are cut along the petal shapes. Bodice is accented with bugle beads in self-colors throughout. Bracelet length sleeves with covered snap closure; unstructured silhouette. Center back zipper and hook & eye at mid-back and hook & eye at neckline give open back effect. Fully lined in turquoise rayon; scalloped hem. No Designer label. Beaded evening dress

Dress of color blocked blue, pink, and orange silk chiffon gently patterned from the bust to hem with multicolored butterflies, exotic flowers, and blue and green blades of grass. The full-length dress is embellished with horizontal stripes of bugle beads that are spaced farther apart as they reach the bottom of the dress; butterflies, flowers, and grass blades are embellished with seed and bugle beads. Band collar; straight, unstructured silhouette. Top of dress is blue, middle is pink, and bottom is orange. Center-back zip closure with two hook and eyes at collar; 15" slit at right side. Built-in shoulder pads. Long sleeves are unlined; balance of dress is lined in light mauve rayon. Varsity style jacket with front of mustard colored wool felt. Knit male kabuki style face on back. Center front zippered opening with snap at neckline. Wide rolled collar of black corduroy has 5 snaps. Left black corduroy and right red corduroy sleeves are zippered and detachable; cuffs have snap closure. Black corduroy waistband closes with 2 snaps. Two angled pockets at hips and patch pocket at left front with embroidered patch of male kabuki style face. Lined in yellow quilted polyester. Interview with Jack Kenner, an Army veteran (2nd Battalion, 131st Field Artillery, Texas National Guard) and a member of the "Lost Battalion," concerning his experiences as a prisoner-of-war of the Japanese during World War II. Kenner talks about the fall of Java and his capture, Bicycle Camp in Batavia (1942), Changi Prison Camp in Singapore (1942), the hell ship to Japan (1942), Hakodate, Sapporo, and Muroran, Hokkaido (1942-1945), and his liberation.
