Photograph used for a story in the Daily Oklahoman newspaper. Caption: "A.C. Ledet, a vetern of more than two score years in the drilling industry, gazed fondly at the new million-dollar rig with all the pride of a new father. "She's a beaut," said Ledet, vice president of special projects in charge of Parker Drilling Co.'s Oklahoma City yard at 3200 SE 29. Ledet hustled around the big rotary-it's 142-foot masts atop a substructure 26 feet high-as workmen sprayed final coats of paint and welders applied their finishing touches.....Bill hodges Trucking Co., Oklahoma City, has the contract to move the rig. It's estimated a convoy of at least 47 trucks will be required to haul the rig componets and equipment. (Photo tag: A. C. Ledet looks down from the rig floor of Parker Drilling Co.'s new million-dollar rig assembled at the firm's Oklahoma City yard.)"

Equally colorless were the spirits of people trapped inside their houses or slipping and sliding along city streets and sidewalks. The picture above was taken at NW 27 and May Ave., looking north at the dreary landscape."

Photograph used for a story in the Daily Oklahoman newspaper. Caption: "Noth May Ave, wouldn't be the same without it. Skirting through perpetually heavy traffic on May just north of Britton Road, motorists probably feel a twinge of comfort each time they pass the fading cement tower - knowing the familiar landmark survives the passage of time. Standing majestically in a baseball field in The Village, the imposing water tower doesn't even closely resemble most of its counterparts. Its convex-designed cement stand topped by a 200,000-gallon globe calls to mind a sculptor's work rather than a storage tank for water, for which it originally was designed. But the impressive tower never has been used for its original purpose; in fact, it's never been used for anything. The 150-foot monumnet originally was erected by John Burke for supplying a housing development with its own water supply. But when Burke could find no water source for the development that stands on the original Wiley Post Airport site, he then sold the water system - lock, stock and tower - to Oklahoma City who promised to provide the water."
