White, director of the Oklahoma City Urban Renewal Authority (OCCURA), presented a verbal tour of the proposed Myriad Gardens complex to 50 members and guests who sweltered without benefit of the center's 2,800-ton air conditiong system. Calling the gardens "a way of providing a natural environment" with the city, White said the 11-acre project directly west of the convention center could become more than the focal point of the downtown business district, "but a regional attraction of its own." "We're right on the verge of realizing a drea that goes back more than a decade," White said before praising the late Oklahoma Sen. Robert S. Kerr, who was among the first to express a concern for the problems faced by central city cores....Don Kaspereit, OCCURA planning director, followed White with a slide presentation."
