Photograph used for a story in the Daily Oklahoman newspaper. Caption: "A three-alarm fire erupted in a northwest Oklahoma City apartment complex Thursday afternoon and caused an estimated $75,000 damage to six completed but unfurnished units. Ronnie Franz, employed by a carpet firm, was laying carpet in one of the upstairs units at the Lyrewood Apartments, 6600 W Wilshire, shortly before the fire was discovered. He said he had gone stairs to get another section of carpet when he heard someone yell "Fire." Franz said he looked up and saw smoke coming out of several second-story windows. He ran upstairs to save his tools, but flames already were coming out of the doorway of the unit he had been working minutes before, he said. Assistant Fire Chief Cathel Miller said the first alarm was recieved at 3:330 p.m., a second alarm was turned in at 3:35 and a third at 3:42 p.m...Assistant Fire Marshall Fred Rucker said a firewall constructed of solid brick and extending three feet above the rooftop aided in controlling the fire........Craig Winters, 1116 Finwick Place, told fire inspectors he was watering a lawn nearby when the fire broke out. Photograph used for a story in the Daily Oklahoman newspaper. Caption: "Free Calley!" was the rallying chant Saturday afternoon for a group of about 200 persons who assembled in support of Lt. William Calley on the south steps of the state capitol. The group was mostly youths but was sprinkled with adults, united behind what one participant called, "the first common cause of young people and adults." Ray Williams, 27-year old Vietnam veteran who called the rally, said he was disappointed with the turn out and that he had expected more people. Petitions calling for President Nixon to grant "full and immediate clemency for Calley were circulated among the group. Williams said he plans to mail the petitions directly to Nixon. He also called for the people to send their senators telegrams which, he said, would be taken en massee next Saturday to President Nixon. At one point during the rally, the group, carrying American flags and "Free Cally" signs, marched around the capitol chanting its demands while a 25-car motorcade drove around the capitol grounds."

Caption: "Floyd Gass tried to do two things at once Thursday afternoon, keep warm in the face of a strong nothernly wind while watching 102 prospects who turned out for the first day of Oklahoma State's spring footbal drills. The cold didn't seem to bother the players. They were more concerned with contact work and checking their speed over a 40-yard course in full uniform. "They seem to be in a good frame of mind," Gass said, "This'll help. "we had some hitting in the late part of the practice but it was only three-on-three contact. I like our physical condition. It's not bad - not bad at all." The condition showed up full bloom when the Cowboys took time off in the middle of their two-hour drill for the 40-yard dash. Clocking the fastest times were Altus senior defensive halfback Tom Carraway; sophmore-to-be recievers Reuben Gant of Tulsa Washington and Steve pettes, who missed three of the four freshman games after an operation on his thumb, and senior running back Bobby Cole, all at 4.7...... Photograph used for a story in the Daily Oklahoman newspaper. Caption: "A University of Oklahoma freshman, thought to be under the influence of drugs, plunged to his death through an eighth floor dormitory window early Sunday morning. Campus police investigated the incident ruled the death of 18-year-old Allan Floyd Adkisson, Lakeville, Minn., as suicide. Student Despondent? Residents of the eighth floor of the dormitory, where Adikisson lived, described him as acting despondent shortly after 3 a.m. Sunday. Several students participating in a card game in the lounge became concerned over the victim's condition when they saw him walking about muttering. He tried to force open an elevator door and was swinging a wine bottle, they said. The students summoned a resident adviser, Roy Folsom. Walker Tower president Dam Scull, Singapore junior, said Adikisson seemed upset shortly after the adviser was awakened. Residents reported Adikisson hurled himself against the lounge area window. Caption: "Fire, fueled by an accumulation of old paint and fanned by north winds gusting to 40 miles an hour, destroyed the A&A Guaranteed Auto Painting Co. shop this morning at 407 NW 8. Capt. Eldon Tinsley, acting district fire chief, estimated danage at $75,000. About 15 automobiles in the shop for paint and body repairs were damaged. The blaze, shooting through roof skylights when firemen arrived shortly after 2:20 a.m., was confined to the shop building. About 20 residents of upstairs apartments in a building to the east were evacuated, but firemen kept the blaze from spreading. The roof and a portion of one wall collapsed but none of the firemen from 12 units answering the two alarms were injured. "We had one company in danger for a while, but we got them out," Tinsley said. Heavy steel roof (Photo tage: Fire sent roof tumbling onto automobiles in city paint shop.)"
