Caption: "A three-alarm fire erupted in a northwest Oklahoma City apartment complex Thursday afternoon and caused an estimated $75,000 damage to six completed but unfurnished units. Ronnie Franz, employed by a carpet firm, was laying carpet in one of the upstairs units at the Lyrewood Apartments, 6600 W Wilshire, shortly before the fire was discovered. He said he had gone stairs to get another section of carpet when he heard someone yell "Fire." Franz said he looked up and saw smoke coming out of several second-story windows. He ran upstairs to save his tools, but flames already were coming out of the doorway of the unit he had been working minutes before, he said. Assistant Fire Chief Cathel Miller said the first alarm was recieved at 3:330 p.m., a second alarm was turned in at 3:35 and a third at 3:42 p.m...Assistant Fire Marshall Fred Rucker said a firewall constructed of solid brick and extending three feet above the rooftop aided in controlling the fire........Craig Winters, 1116 Finwick Place, told fire inspectors he was watering a lawn nearby when the fire broke out.
