[Administration Building from the south]

Photograph of the south facade of the North Texas State University Administration Building. Taken from near Highland Street, the view looks across the fountain in front of the A. M. Willis, Jr. Library and the space that would later be called the Library Mall, with a few students in view. To the left can be seen part of Willis Library, and to the right is the front of the Lab Gym. The Administration Building was constructed in 1956, and in 2002 was renamed the Hurley Administration Building after retiring UNT Chancellor and former President Dr. Alfred F. Hurley. From the lack of visible numbers and hands on the south side of the tower, this photo was taken before May 1974. Before that date, the McConnell Memorial Tower, named after W. Joseph McConnell, President of North Texas State College from 1934 to 1951, had a clock face only on the north side. The fountain was built when the Willis Library was built, in 1969/1971, dating this photo to between 1971 and 1974.
