[Administration Building from the south]

Photograph of the south facade of the North Texas State University Administration Building. Taken from near Highland Street, the view looks across the fountain and the area that would later be called the Library Mall in front of the A.M. Willis Library, with a few students in view. The Administration Building was constructed in 1956, and in 2002 was renamed the Hurley Administration Building after retiring UNT Chancellor and former President Dr. Alfred F. Hurley. From the lack of visible numbers and hands on the south side of the tower, this photo was taken before May 1974. Before that date, the McConnell Memorial Tower, named after W. Joseph McConnell, President of North Texas State College from 1934 to 1951, had a clock face only on the north side. The fountain was built when the Willis Library was built, in 1969/1971, dating this photo to between 1971 and 1974.

An Analysis and Production Book for a Staging of Jerry Bock's and Sheldon Harnick's The Apple Tree (open access)

An Analysis and Production Book for a Staging of Jerry Bock's and Sheldon Harnick's The Apple Tree

The problem with which this study is concerned is that of critically analyzing and producing the musical comedy The Apple Tree. The study attempts to adapt some of the major unifying elements of this production and, in addition, unite the show through the use of color. The study also attempts to update the production through an extension of symbolism based on the style of Peter Max; to produce a major musical comedy in a stylized and symbolic style, and to show how a stylized and symbolic method of production can be used to achieve simplicity and unity within the confines of a limited budget.
