The purpose of this study is to compare the staging of the Passion Play of Oberammergau, Germany, with the staging of The Great Passion Play on Mount Oberammergau, Eureka Springs, Arkansas. Source material includes literary writings of the century concerning Passion plays, interview with the directors of both productions, and eyewitness accounts of the 1970 producation in Germany and the 1970, 1971 producations in Eureka Springs, Arkansas, U.S.A. Photographs of actors and scenes from both productions are used throughout the thesis.

Dollar trading today against the West German mark represents a nearly eight and one-half per cent upward revaluation of the mark. The dollar now has dropped nearly to the trading level registered when President Nixon announced emergency measures to rescue the dollar. Chattanooga, Tennessee – An explosion is reported to have blasted a hole in a portable classroom at a Chattanooga, Tennessee high school. The explosion cause no injuries, but shattered about two dozen windows f a nearby main school building and hurled debris as far as 150 yards. A federal judge has ordered the Chattanooga schools to eliminate segregation. The schools are scheduled to open Tuesday under an order that includes widespread busing. Edwards, chemist and Army Air Corps veteran (95th Bombardment Group, 8th Air Force), concerning his experiences as a prisoner-of-war of the Germans after being shot down over Nazi-occupied Europe during World War II. Edwards discusses his rescue by the Belgian underground, his capture and interrogation (1944), solitary confinement, Stalag Luft 3, Sagan, Germany, Nürnberg (Stalag 13-D) and Moosburg (Stalag 7-A) (1945), and his liberation by American troops.
