Compatibility of EXTEX with tetryl by thermal methods. Quarterly report, July--September, 1971
A progress report is given on the study of the compatibility of XTX 8003 and tetryl. The 100 C coupon test samples were discarded after 8 weeks because of excessive decomposition. There is no indication of a compatibility problem of XTX with tetryl as long as they are in a solid phase. The 80 C coupon test evaluations are continuing.

Computer-Controlled Gas Chromatograph Capable of ''Real-Time'' Readout of High-Precision Data.
A gas chromatograph has been assembled which provides computer control of sample injection, column temperature, and flow rate, plus direct computer readout of inlet pressure, mass flow rate, and detector response. Data processing yields, in real-time, a standard deviation of less than 0.05% in retention time, which is comparable to previous results obtained using an off-line computer. However, corrected retention volumes determined in real-time had a standard deviation of about 0.4% which reflected primarily the uncertainty in flow measurement.

Correlation Between Brain Tumor Detectability on Brain Scan and Protein Levels of the Spinal Fluid
Fifty-eight patients with brain tumors were reviewed. Each patient had spinal fluid protein determinations and pertechnetate brain scans before surgery. Twenty-five patients had elevated spinal fluid protein levels. Of this group, 22 had positive scans. Thirty-three had normal protein levels and 17 had positive brain scans. In patients with brain tumors and elevated spinal fluid protein levels 88% had positive scans, if the protein level was normal, only 52% had positive scans. The differences are statistically significant. Thus, there is a positive correlation between brain tumor detectability on brain scans and spinal fluid protein levels.

Correlations to Predict Maximum PWR Containment Pressures Following a Loss-of-Coolant Accident.
In this paper, dry containments refer to the class of containments which do not employ which do not employ passive pressure-suppresion systems such as pool-suppression for ice-condenser systems. The dry containments, sometimes called volume, vapor, adiabatic, drywell, or pressure containments are often associated with pressurized water reactors; pool type pressure-suppression systems are sometimes called heat capacity containments and normally associated with boiling water reactor.

Corrosion effects of the interreaction of 6061 aluminum with aqueous mixtures and solutions of selected HE`s
The behavior of several selected HE and HE-component materials in aqueous media in contact with 6061 aluminum has been studied via conductance, cathodic tendencies (cell EMF measurements), pH, and visual analysis (photomicrographs) of the 6061 electrodes and media contacts rods. Addition of orthophthalic acid (OPA) to the media was also made to study potential corrosive effects possibly due to some breakdown of the polyphthalate systems in contact with these materials. Overall assessment of data is not made at this time due to the interrelationship of these data with data which should be obtained from unfinished portions of the study.
