Caption: "Fire, fueled by an accumulation of old paint and fanned by north winds gusting to 40 miles an hour, destroyed the A&A Guaranteed Auto Painting Co. shop this morning at 407 NW 8. Capt. Eldon Tinsley, acting district fire chief, estimated danage at $75,000. About 15 automobiles in the shop for paint and body repairs were damaged. The blaze, shooting through roof skylights when firemen arrived shortly after 2:20 a.m., was confined to the shop building. About 20 residents of upstairs apartments in a building to the east were evacuated, but firemen kept the blaze from spreading. The roof and a portion of one wall collapsed but none of the firemen from 12 units answering the two alarms were injured."
