A letter written to Mr. Carswell from Mrs. Glyn (Ethel) Quade, Sagerton, Texas, dated May 7, 1970. Quade expresses her wish to see him and Mrs. Carswell again and, also, expresses her appreciation for the Ideals subscription. She asks what is happening to our beautiful America, land of the free, discussing the student unrest not only on the campuses at Lawrence, Kansas where Larry attends and at the University of Texas where Lyndell attends but all over the country pointing to the war and draft as a continual dread for students. She advises that Glyn is doing fairly well, the Jack Quades are all right and asks after Mrs. Carswell.

A letter written to Earl & Mrs. Guitar from "Tommy" Carswell, dated Friday a.m., July 10, 1970. Carswell expresses his appreciation to the Guitars for the privilege of fishing in their Elmdale Ranch tanks and shares the story of him fishing in a pond created by the damming of a creek which ran into the Okefenokee Swamp. "Soon afer their marriage in 1866, following father's return from the Civil War, a creek running near their farm home and flowing into the Okefenokee Swamp, was dammed. The waterhead was about five and a half inches, providing sufficient power for gin and gristmill, covering four or five hundred acres, my first fish pond."

A letter addressed to Mr. T. N. Carswell, Abilene, Texas from R. M. Wagstaff, Abilene, Texas, dated October 22, 1970. Wagstaff acknowledges Carswell's 82nd birthday expressing his appreciation for the work he did in behalf of the community throughout the years. He briefly outlines Carswell's accomplishments as Secretary of The Abilene Chamber of Commerce from 1924-1939 focusing on his work regarding roads and highways and the water supply for Abilene, Texas.

A letter written to Mr. T. N. Carswell, Abilene, Texas from Omar Burleson, House of Representatives, Washington, D. C., dated November 30, 1970. Burleson advises that he has obtained six tickets to the coming Cotton Bowl game by using the personal use plea and expresses to Carswell that it was a privilege to be of service.

A notation written by T. N. Carswell, dated December 1, 1970 advising that he does not now know to whom the message and flowers were sent noting it was possibly to Thelma Batson, Poplarville, Mississippi. The reverse side includes sentiment written by T. N. Carswell to be sent with flowers from Rister Flower Shop and dated February 8, 1954. "In the heart of a friend there is always understanding and a deepening anxiety to share freely of life's stresses pressing upon those we love. That is the message of these flowers, both in their fragrance and their beauty."

A photocopy of the envelope and letter from Maree to Uncle Norwood [T. N. Carswell], dated Wednesday a. m. Addressed to Mr. T. N. Carswell, Abilene, Texas, postmarked Homerville, GA, April 22, 1970.

A letter written to Uncle Norwood [T. N. Carswell] from Maree. Maree acknowledges her receipt of the letter from Carswell and proceeds to describe her financial life while living with her husband, that she paid his debts and is left with nothing. She advises that Winn now lives and owns a business in Denton, Texas thus making it necessary to retain a good divorce lawyer in Dallas, Texas and requests Carswell's help in doing finding a lawyer.

A letter written to Mr. T. N. Carswell, Abilene, Texas from W. P. Ikenberry, Executive Vice-President, Whiting Oil Company, Clifton Forge, Virginia, dated September 30, 1970. Ikenberry expresses his pleasure of past aquaintance with Mrs. Carswell and Peggy and the feeling that he knew Carswell because of the number of times Mrs. Whiting spoke of him. He advises that he enclosed a certified copy of a resolution in respect to the memory of their late president, Mrs. Milton B. Whiting.

A letter written to Omar Burleson, from T. N. Carswell, dated May 27, 1970. Carswell congratulates Burleson on his "Release" for May 28 and suggests that for the benefit of the country he arise on the floor and make known more fully the consequences of our action or inaction in Southeast Asia.

A letter written to Mr. T. N. Carswell, Abilene, Texas, from John M. Fisher, President American Security Council, Washington, D. C., dated July 30, 1970. Fisher acknowledges his receipt of Carswell's contribution to the National Security Index for 1970 and welcomes him as a member of their National Voter Advisory Board. Burleson expresses his appreciation for the letter from Carswell and assures him that it was a privilege to provide the tickets. He advises that he, too, supports the SST and will continue to do so. He offers Christmas greetings.
