The multi-story Marshall Hotel is a landmark in downtown Marshall. It is located on E. Houston Street. The corner shown is E. Houston and Lafayette. The building to the left of the hotel is the Mahon Building, was an office building at the time of the picture, c1970. After many years of standing empty and neglected, the hotel is currently under restoration.

Group photograph in color of the teachers of Sam Houston Elementary Schoool, Marshall, Texas. They are posed inside in front of a pale green curtain with one seated row and two standing rows behind. A sign on the floor in front of the group reads: "Sam Houston Elem. Marshall, Texas Mr. Jones Principal, Faculty, March 1970." Written in pen on the back are the following identifications: "Back row, Wendell Jones, Glendon Harris, Modena Owen, ?, Margie Ford, Virginia Neeley, Larnell Johnson ; 2nd row from back, ?, Johnnie McCutchan, ?, Irene Hussey, ? ; 3 row from back (Front row), Faun Shaw, Ilene Pelz, Freddie Eubanks, Ruby Newton, Edna Link, Annette Westmoreland." The inscription was written by Mrs. Johnnie McCutchan.
