Photograph of Lawton, Okla. Commanche County SWDC A.F. Halleran, Wildlife Management Biologist, Sports Fisheried and wildlife, showing sumac at west edge of OU Deer enclosure east of Meers gate in Mt. Scott pasture. Sumac shoots that shows in earlier photos is absent. The areas was burned in August 1963. The permanent enclosure was installed in March, 1965.

Graham Flat Pasture
Photograph of a savannah area looking north into Graham Flat pasture from 1/10 mi. east of entrance to Camp Doris campground. This pasture has been grazed by buffalo in the winter. Before cross fencing, this was a part of the Big Game pasture and had light use.

Fire Damage Recovery Mt. Scott Pasture
Photograph of area damaged by fire in early August 1963 east of Meers gate in Mt. Scott pasture. 2,700 acres were burned. There is still evidence of accelerated erosion. The area is grazed. Little bluestem and tall dropseen are the main grasses.

Photograph of vegetation inside deer enclosure NE of cedar grove. Area was burned in August 1963 and protected from grazing since March 1964. Grasses are tall dropseed, little bluestem, big bluestem, sideoats grama, sand dropseed and annual threeawn.Note increase in growth on big bluestem, which spreads by rhyzomes and is less damaged by fire. Also lesser increase of little bluestem withch is more damaged by fire because of its bunch type growth habit.
