Lowell makes reference to the note by Carswell about his support of the organization for over 19 years. Lowell expresses the appreciation of the organization for all that Carswell has done through the years advising that he is one of their very best friends.

A letter written to Mr. T. N. Carswell, Abilene, Texas, from Omar Burleson, House of Representatives, Washington, D. C., dated July 26, 1968. Burleson expresses his appreciation for Carswell's note on the copy of the address by David Braden. He advises that he had seen it and that it is something with which he is in fullest agreement.

A letter written to "Norwood" [T. N. Carswell], Abilene, Tex from Allen N. Carswell, Homerville, Georgia, dated June 28, Saturday p. m. Allen Carswell explains that he is writing to let T. N. Carswell know how he is getting along. He advises that he is at home alone day and night and is "very sad and lonely all the time day and night. I sometimes I will commit suicide and forget all my trouble"; he writes that Maree and Virgel have forgotten they ever had a father, that he will not ever forget loosing the one that is already gone on to Heaven.

A letter written to Nora Whiting from Byrdie Carswell, typed by T. N. Carswell, dated November 25, 1968. Byrdie recounts her life-long appreciation and love for Nora, her older sister; of Nora's and Milton's love for her continuing after they married; their continued love after she and Tommy married; their contribution to Peg "in love and lifelong direction that has enriched her life". She advises that she and Tommy were glad that Nora sounded better the last time they talked to her. Hand written postscript expresses gladness to have Peg come & see them - even for a day.

A letter written to Mr. T. N. Carswell, Abilene, Texas from William Peacock, Sr., Houston Export Crating Co., Inc., dated March 11, 1968. Peacock advises that Carswell is most welcome to use two places in their family burial plot in Houston.

In a previous letter dated December 2, 1968, Nixon requests that Carswell name an exceptional individual for appointment whom Nixon can bring into his Administration prompting this reply letter by Carswell in which he makes the recommendation of Dr. Rupert N. Richardson for an appointment to the new Administration.

A letter written to Mr. and Mrs. T. N. Carswell, Abilene, Texas from Elwin L. Skiles, President, Hardin-Simmons University dated November 14, 1968. Skiles issues an invitation to attend the convocation of the centennial of the birth of the late Jefferson Davis Sandefer.

An aerial photograph of the F. A. Reynolds Band Instrument plant in Abilene, Texas. The company was founded in Cleveland, Ohio by Foster A. Reynolds (1884-1960). A few years after Reynolds' death in 1960, the assets of the F.A. Reynolds Co. were purchased by Maurice Berlin and the Chicago Musical Instrument (CMI) company; at the time, CMI was one of the largest musical instrument distributors in the world and owned F.E. Olds, Lowrey Organs, Gibson Guitars and several other firms. As the new owners of F.A. Reynolds, one of CMI’s first actions was to pack up and move the company from its long-time plant in Cleveland to a new manufacturing facility in Abilene, Texas (August). With the move to Texas, CMI began the merger of F.A. Reynolds’ and F.E. Olds’ operations. Production for both companies during 1964-1970 was split between the Olds’ plant in Fullerton (350 South Raymond Avenue, Fullerton, CA) and the new Reynolds factory in Abilene (5520 North First Street, Abilene, TX). The trumpet, cornet, horn (except nickel-silver models) and trombone lines for both companies were made at the Olds plant in Fullerton, while the other brasses (plus nickel silver horns) for both companies were made at the …
