This report tallies the costs of the aid that the United States gave to France from World War 1, World War 2, and the post-war period up until 1949 with mutually agreed-upon interest rates. The total of the unpaid debt came to $7,149,282,046 with the vast majority coming from World War 1.

From Abstract: "This bulletin traces the development of high-pressure, coal and tar hydrogenation technology, based on intensive review of the pertinent literature. The bulletin was written as a part of the Bureau of Mines research program on synthetic liquid fuels.
