A truck driver was killed and two men injured Wdnesday afternoon near Oklahoma City's Turner Turnpike gat on I-35 when two large truck crashed headon in heavy traffic. Dead is Levi J. Berten, 64, San Angelo, Texas, one of the drivers. Injuries were the other driver, John B. Maize, 47, of 1400 SW 11, and a passenger in Berten's truck, John A. Allen, 36, also of San Angelo. Ambulance took all three men to Edmond's Memorial Hospital. Maize, listed is critical condition, was transferred to Oklahoma City's St. Anthony Hosptial with head injuries. Allen remained at the hospital with head injuries and in shock...Trooper Lee Ellyson said Maize's unloaded livestock truck was northbound when it went off the shoulder....Berten, who drives for a San Angelo based company, C. L. Henson and Sons, apparently never had a chance to dodge the other truck, the highway patrol said. To dat 208 persons have died in Oklahoma traffic accidents compared with 261 this time a year ago."
