Jacket of black satin and black mink fur. Short, cropped jacket with high rounded neckline and full-length set-in sleeves made in heavy silk satin. Center front opening without closure devices. Neckline, front opening and cuffs trimmed in black mink fur. Fully lined in black silk. Designer's label at inside center back below collar: "Made in France / Automne-Hiver 1962 / Christian Dior / Paris" Style number stamped on label: "117880"

"Lampshade" style hat of black straw or raffia. The basically conical hat is woven of a black straw material, with flattened top. On the front of the hat, off-set to the left, is affixed a wide black velvet ribbon from the top edge of the crown down to almost the brim. Sewn to the ribbon at top is a circular stamped metal brooch set with 17 large circular rhinestones in three concentric circles. The hat is lined in black net, with inner black grosgrain hatband. Sewn to the inner ribbon band is manufacturer's label: "Edette / Exclusive / New York - Paris"

Hat of black silk chiffon. The hat is formed from a cylindrical pillbox style hat surmounted by a conical section that is folded back and flares out to form an extension behind the hat. Where the surmounting piece meets the pillbox is a black bow formed from the same cloth. Inside of crown is lined in stiff black netting, and has a black grosgrain ribbon running along the base of the crown. A small plastic comb is sewn in front of hat to inner ribbon to secure it to wearer's head. No labels. The donor records that "... Balenciaga showed it with dress and sleeveless coat..."

Navy wool draped backward over crown turned under and gathered at lower back edge of crown (back resembles a snood).

As he's planning on travelling around the country for about two or three weeks and wants to know whether he'd be joining him here or somewhere else. Again, he requests for his itinerary and delivers his regards to his mother and father.

And he's leaving for his post in Morocco and he might pass through Paris and Kempner has told him to get in touch with Christian if Jim ever needs help. And he might do that same thing at the end of the year after getting married and taking his wife back to Morocco with him.

Kempner also mentions about Herb's son, James C. Kempner who's in the Supply Corps as his eyesight didn't allow him to pass for anything else.

Letter from Harris Leon Kempner to Messrs. French Line attaching a check for $10.00 to be credit under Miss Cecile Kempner as a gift from Mr. and Mrs. H. L. Kempner. He mentioned that She's going to be a passenger on your France, scheduled to leave from New York on Friday.
