Photograph used for a story in the Daily Oklahoman newspaper. Caption: "Since 1929 there has been about $120 million invested in Will Rogers Field, about half in federal funds. Until 1954 the federal government aided in the development of Will Rogers through predecerssors of the Work Projects Administration and, during World War II, the army. How much was spent by the federal governement in building up Will Rogers before 1946 may never be known, said E. J. Verba, assistant airport manager, because many of the records were lost during the war. Federal aid to Will Rogers Field has amounted to $2,811,432 since 1958, said William O. Coleman, airport manager........Coleman said his rather "hazy" crystal ball" indicated that if congress will continue the 50 percent federal aid program WillRofers will utilize about $7 1/2 million of these funds in the next five to eight years..........Not included under the program is the construction of the FAA Center on the west side of Will Rogers Field. Funds for the center are obtained through bond issues of the Oklahoma City Airport Trust."
