The purpose of this paper is to make a detailed study of vector spaces and a certain vector-like system.

Much controversy has surrounded recent American policy toward China. Books of various stripes--distortions, misrepresentations, emotional accounts, and purportedly scholarly studies--have dealt with the formulation of a China policy. Several of the objective studies have featured the role that politics played in reducing American freedom of action. The emphasis has been that, since American diplomatic strategy during the decade of the 1940's was a Democratic responsibility, Republican critics took political advantage of the China "tangle." As congressional criticism mounted, the framework within which the Truman Administration could evolve a policy was increasingly restricted. With the Communist victory in China and the subsequent Korean War, Democratic strategy had apparently backfired. The public became aroused, and policy makers have since had difficulty adjusting to realities.

This study was designed to determine the utilization of the sick leave program of a large city school system by teachers according to sex, age, experience, tenure, training, residence, and teaching assignment, and to determine if current sick leave allowances were adequate.

This study was conducted in an effort to determine whether or not the degree of growth in practical skills, personal and social development, and knowledge of subject matter content which an adolescent demonstrates is significantly related to the assumption of leadership roles in the classroom.

This study will be concerned with evaluating the degree of acceptance of rural students in an urban school. Because of increased interaction between the two groups on account of better modes of transportation, consolidation of schools, and a general trend in creating a more homogenous environment between the two groups the following null hypotheses have been formulated: 1. That there will be no significant difference in acceptance between the rural and urban pupils. 2. That there will be no significant differences in the number of cross-sex choices given or received by the two groups. 3. That there will be no significant discrimination between rural and urban school mates in clique formation.

The purpose of this thesis is to determine whether Blasco Ibáñez in his novel La Horda used Pío Baroja's Material which was published in La Lucha por la Vida. Baroja claimed that he did. Therefore, this paper compares the two novels to discover similarities in their settings, their plots, and their characters.

This paper is primarily concerned with the fundamental properties of a linear algebra of finite order over a field. A discussion of linear sets of finite order over a field is used as an introduction to these properties.

The form of the movement is as follows: Slow introduction; forceful theme "A"; lyrical theme "B"; bridge between second theme and development section; development of theme "B"; another bridge developed from a fragment introduced immediately preceding the bridge which is used for a climax before theme "C" is introduced and developed. with the end of the development of theme "C", the development section ends, and thus begins the recapitulation of themes "B" and "A" in that order with little variation in either from that of the exposition. Theme "C", since it played such an integral part in the development section, is not brought back in the recapitulation.

Considered as a whole, the seven novels written by Frank Norris contain enough of naturalism to justify classifying him as a naturalist. His failure to fully comprehend the implications of the naturalistic philosophy results in both strengths and weaknesses. He fails in The Octopus to maintain the objective point of view that the naturalists set for themselves, and a looseness of conception and a diffuseness of effect result. By allowing the ranchers freedom of choice in the matter of the means to be employed against the railroad, he achieves something very close to tragedy. Vandover, too, has a choice, and the novel suffers as a study in determinism, but Vandover becomes a more interesting character than he would have been without will.
