Photograph taken for a story in the Daily Oklahoman newspaper. Caption: "Horse lovers looking for a high-quality grass hay for their animals shouldn't look for bermuda grass hay. Dick Chiles, extension pasture specialist at OSU, says bermuda grass hay is one of the best for horses for several reasons. Bermuda hay has a medium protein content, about halfway between alfalfa and prairie hay. Properly cut and baled it is free from dust and mold. It cures into bright, high quality hay. It doesn't become stemy as readily as some other grasses used for hay. According to Chiles, bermuda hay protein content can be increased to 15 percent or more by proper fertilization."
