According to the "1996 George Ranch Historical Park Interpreter Training Manual", the oak tree was planted in 1824 by Nancy Jones. A ladder can be seen near the bottom branches on the left side of the tree with a picnic table near the ladder. There are two wooden picnic tables and two white benches in right corner. Shrubs in foreground. Partial view of a white building on right. Wooden fence leads to George barns (roof tops visible in left to center background). A small white pump house is almost obscured by the trunk of the tree near center. The storage tank sits to the right of the pump house. Long white building on other side of wire fence in left background. Written on back of photograph in blue ink: "Oak Tree at Georges 100 yrs old-".
