Photograph used for a newspaper owned by the Oklahoma Publishing Company. Caption: "First Oklahoma City-made steel was poured into ingots Wednesday at the new $700,000 Hoster Steel Corp. Mill, 1600 S May. When the electric arc furnace was tapped shortly after 3 p.m., the mill officialy began the first phase of its shakedown run. The rolling mill section of the plant is still to be completed but actual production of steel will continue at an accelerated pace to stockpile ingots, W. H. Hoster, corporation president said. The mill, using Oklahoma scrap, is described by Hoster as the "smallest integrated steel mill in the world." When in complete operation the mill will employ about 100 men, producing high grade steel at the rate of 24 tons every 10 hours. Most of the output is expected to go to Oklahoma manufacturers working on defense contracts."
