The number of cars to be parked always increases faster than the number of available parking spaces....Arlie DeLaughter, head of the parking meter installation and service brigade, said the meters should be installed within the next two weeks. The 75 meters are being installed along the west side of Robinson between Broadway and Harvey, along Main between Broadway and Harvey, and on Broadway between Main and NW 4......In the next two weeks they'll begin winding up the 75 additional meters and eager motorists, undoubtedly, will began plugging them."

Caption: "Years of talking came to end Aug. 3, 1959, when a power shovel ripped down a building in two minutes signailing the start of construction for Oklahoma City's new Federal Building and U.S. Court House. Construction came to an official end in the last week of Novemeber, 1961m when government inspectors officially accepted the building from contractors on condition that late modifications be finished....Although construction started in August, 1959, initial planning was started in the mid-1930's. It wasn't until after World War II that the proposal gained in impetus. the Korean War delayed planning for a while. The cornerstone for the building was layed Sept. 23, 1960....................Included are four judges, the district court clerk, U.S. commissioner, U.S. district attorney, U.S. marshal, prodation officers, bankruptcy referee and the U.S. Secret Service. The U.S. 10th Circuit Court of Appeals will have chambers on the fifth floor. Judge A. P. Murrah, chief judge of the appelate court, will move his chambers into the new building..."

Two passengers and the driver were blown from the car when fumes from the just-filled butane tank ignited, District Fire Chief W. C. Roach said. Mrs. Dealie Schubmehl, 43, of 308 N Allen, was admitted to St. Anthony Hospital suffering first and second degree burns to her face, hands and legs, hospital spokesman said. Her condition was listed as serious. The other passenger, Mrs. Irene Anderson, 47, of 115 N Tuttle, was treated for minor burns. The cab driver, John Johnson, 34, of 114 N Harrison, was treated for face and hand burns. Chief Roach said the cab's butane fuel tank had been filled at company headquarters, 1414 W Main. "Apperantly," he theorized, "fumes accumulated inside the cab and were ignited by a spark of some kind. All occupants were blown from the car." The taxi was a total loss, Roach said."

The Oklahoma City Open is the biggest major tournament ever to be played on the Lincoln links. "We'll be ready," is the flat prediction of Ferguson. It looks like the capitol city will be a golfer's paradise. June 6 the Oklahoma City Golf and Country Club will host golfers playing qualifting rounds for the National. During the Lincoln Tourney qualifying rounds for the National Open......First phase of the program, now completed, is an $81,000 irrigation system. As for the course itself most of the holes are remaining in the same location, but the layout is being revised. Three new greens have been built and much of the walking distance between holes …
