She speaks of Gib Sandefer and other Abilene friends then asks if the situation at Hardin-Simmons is as bad now as he thought when he last wrote. Bryant expresses his appreciation for the article Carswell submitted to The Baptist Standard published on July 27, 1960 citing the importance to Hardin-Simmons University from the article having been published.

Letter from C. J. Ruilmann to Carl Benken discussing Mr. Dalton's stay at the Big Spring Hospital. He explains that Mr. Dalton was not badly treated in the hospital and regrets that the incident happened. He also agrees that the hospital is understaffed and attests that to a limited budget.

Read Granberry to Truett Latimer discussing a request by the 56th Legislature that the Texas Legislative Council update a codification of laws relating to juveniles, which will result in the introduction of a bill during the next legislative session to enact the codification into law. Granberry discusses conflicts between statutes and current developments and the council's plans to address them, including conferring with county judges. He also mentions that the letter is being sent to Senator Ratcliff and asks Latimer to discuss the issue with him and other county officials and provide the council with feedback on the alternate subchapter they are drafting.

A letter written to T. N. Carswell from Claude Lloyd, Ashland, New Hampshire, dated August 2, 1960. Lloyd advises that two summers from now he will be retired and that having lived in an Academy house for years he will be required to find another place. He describes the setting of an old farm house with three acres that he bought 28 years ago and has been working on during summers but now must complete for year-round habitation. He conveys his love for Texas and advises that his visit three years ago proved that there is no gap in his life. He describes his years in Massachusettes; "Living and sometimes competing with these Mayflower-Harvard names is sometimes a bit galling, more often amusing. Generally, I find it more gratifying to shock than to please them". He expresses his appreciation to Carswell for the call, letter and kind considerations for some fifty years making note of their lasting friendship even after years of separation.
