Photograph of Noble blade stubble mulch tillage machine being used on Wheatland Exp. Station. This is the first operation by the 8 ft. blade cutting approximately 5 inches under the surface. It raised the slice of dirt slightly, but leaves the stubble and other residue in place.

Bermudagrass Seed
Photograph of NK-37 Bermudagrass seed. Seeding and fertilizing rate was 1/2 lb. hulled NK-37 bermuda grass seed with 125 lbs. 10-20-10 per acre at seeding time. Seed was mixed with fertilizer and planted in shallow furrows 18 inches apart with an Ezy-Flow fertilizer Spreader with "Pray" furrowing device attached.

Photograph of one of the several tree planting machines operated in the district in the 1958 - 1959 season. This machine was shop-built locally for $163.00. Over 2,000,000 seedlings were planted this season. The machine plants around 1000 trees or covering one acre per hour. OK-824-6.

(1/2 pound seed and 125 pound 10-20-10 fertilizer per acre). Field lined with previous bermuda grass establishment. Photograph of Floyd Ramsey, ranch manager, and SCS technician W. J. Fowler inspecting a planting of NK-37 Bermuda grass. Land was cleared of brush in April, 1959. NK-37 Bermuda grass was planted during the last week in May, 1959, using 1 ¾ pounds seed and 200 lbs. of 10-20-10 fertilizer per acre. Soil unit 25c-OH. This pasture was changed from non-production to a lush pasture within 120 days by proper land use. OK-928-9.

Photograph of pasture with heavy timber in the background. The grassed area was timbered until 1956. 300 acres were cleared to midland bermuda and clover. 2000 acres make up the ranch. The cleared land after planting Bermuda grass increased the ranch's carrying capacity by 30 to 40%. OK-1050-7.
