The ceremony, promoted by the aviation committee of the Oklahoma City Chamber of Commerce, will officially christen the 3-story-high installation which was built with funds from the city's $7.5 million airport bond issue...In a landscaped setting on the city's "No. 2 airport," the new terminal features a full utility basement, and a main floor which includes a restaurant and lobby area, offices for the airport supervisor and quarters for a crash-fire rescue team which will be stationed at the airport. On the second floor is located the new office of the Federal Aviation Agency (FAA) district safety office, which is being moved to Tulakes from …

Hoback, Oklahoma Turnpike Authority manager, still thinks major resufacing is needed on the Turner Turnpike but it must wait until next summer. Hot, dry weather is needed for the work, he said, adding that he also needs time in which to evaluate the merits of 10 different types of test material laid down on the roadway last August. Until major resudfacing can be done, maintenance crews are concentrationg on sealing an ever-increasing number of cracks and on patching broader bad spots that appear.........Paul Gilmore, 3833 NW 51, was injured critically when his eastbound car crashed into an abutment just east of Chandler after swerving around some temporary lane dividers at a work area......The turnpike, after 6 1/2 years of heavy travel, still appears to be superior to most free roads in the state, but in the opinion of the reporter it does not provide the super-ride that it did when it was opened May 16, 1953..........During the first 5 years of operation, $10,725,000 in revenue was expected. Instead, the gross amounted to $13,832,000. The revenue hass allowed the turnpike to set aside $500,000 for special maintenance resrve …

This quixotic house that has 50 rooms and is still unfinished, overwhelms the visitor with its opulence. It has everything from a golden yacht trophy to art masterpieces from France, Italy and Switzerland. it even has secret passageways and an atomic bomb shelter. behind the great white pillars which are now bedecked with Christmas lights a visitor finds double and triple locked doors, muffled chimesand an amazing world of wealth. And the story behind the eight-room home on the corner of NW 38 and Shartel that grew into a mansion nearly half a block long just as amazing. "It just grew like Topsy," Mrs. Ardith Carelene Dolese explains. "We added a room there and I guess we didn't know when to quit." In 1941 the eight-room which which cost $14,500 and looked like many others in the neighborhood, became the Dolese home. It was the "honeymoon cottage" for Ardith and Roger M. Dolese when they moved to Oklahoma City from Detriot. The couple married the year after Dolese was graduated from the University of Michigan. …

The end most prominent in the picture contains the city's fire equipment. The old building was stripped down and rebuilt, while a major addition was put on in the $145,000 project. This picture was taken shortley before the house collapsed after being gutted by flames. Firemen from Del City and Oklahoma City were called to battle the blaze, but were unable to extinguish it. Two other children escaped death by running from the house ahead of the flames. Neighbors gathered in the dusty street and watched firemen cleaning up the ruins. The bodies of 3-year-old Geraldine Green and her 5-year-old brother Randy were still lying in the rubble...."A fireman and I tried to get in to get those kids out," Del City police captain Randall Johnson said. "Hot tar was dripping around the door. We couldn't get in at all."....One man kicked at the dust on S Epperly and walked slowly back to his car. "I've never felt so helpless inmy life," he said. "I heard the woman screaming that her children were inside. I wanted to try to run in there or do something. There just wasn't a thing anyone could do."
