This is an aerial photograph pf speeding boats skimming over Lake Hefner. Basically, it's a sure sign spring is here but it also means there's plenty of water in Oklahoma City's lakes. Lake Overholser is practically full, Hefner is just 4.65 feet from the top and this with 90,00 acree feet in rented storage at Canton represents a 23-month city supply. And water enough to offset our current usage is flowing down the North Canadian."

Moments before an ice house on the top story rumbled and fell seven floors to ground level, about 36 men left the beef and veal coolers on the fourth floor for the 11 a.m. coffee break. The huge cooling system and brine tanks on the sixth floor crashed through the space where many of the crew had been working. "There were only five of us in the veal cooler," said James Hendrix of route 5, west of the city. "James McIntosh, Noah Clark, Manuel Galindo and Gene Clayton, as I remember." "I heard this rumble and crash, and I ran for the door," he continued. "just as O got to the door, I heard someone yell and I ran back to see Clayton dragging Galindo away from the crash.........."It's really amazing how few were hurt," commented Oliver W. Gaffney, general manager for the plant....The packing plant is located in Oklahoma County, surrounded by Oklahoma City."
