Photograph used for a story in the Daily Oklahoman newspaper. Caption: "It takes approximatley 3,800 pounds of lead to house 2 million volts of x-ray. But the supervoltage ray will be beamed through a tiny spot one-twenty-fifth of an inch wide. Installed at University hospital is a new Van De Graaff model X-ray machine, the first unit of its kind in the state. Conventional radiotheraoy machines generate X-rays at only 250,000 volts. Dr. G. R. Ridings, head of the department of radiology at the University of Oklahoma medical center, said the machine will be used for research and treatment of deep-seated cancers. Dr. Peter Russo, professor of radiology and former head of the department, was instrumental in securing the $75,000 gift from the Donner Foundation Inc., of Philadelphia, Pa....The unit is housed in a new three-story, $454,000 addition to University hospital, top floor of which is devoted to surgery and anesthesiology research and medicine. The radiology department will occupy the lower two-floors. Beam from the supervoltage machine will be much like that from the combat "bomb", Dr. Ridings points out, though the physical equipment is much large...It's pencil-like beam is very sharply defined and there is no fade out area. …

Photograph used for a story in the Oklahoma City Times newspaper. Caption: "Fire killed two small children Friday morning when it destroyed this frame house at 3508 S Epperly. This picture was taken shortley before the house collapsed after being gutted by flames. Firemen from Del City and Oklahoma City were called to battle the blaze, but were unable to extinguish it. Two other children escaped death by running from the house ahead of the flames. Neighbors gathered in the dusty street and watched firemen cleaning up the ruins. The bodies of 3-year-old Geraldine Green and her 5-year-old brother Randy were still lying in the rubble...."A fireman and I tried to get in to get those kids out," Del City police captain Randall Johnson said. "Hot tar was dripping around the door. We couldn't get in at all."....One man kicked at the dust on S Epperly and walked slowly back to his car. "I've never felt so helpless inmy life," he said. "I heard the woman screaming that her children were inside. I wanted to try to run in there or do something. There just wasn't a thing anyone could do."

Caption: "Two Del City children were burned to death Friday morning and a brother and sister narrowly escaped as fire destroyed their home at 3508 S Epperly Dr. Dead were Randy Green, 5, and his 3-year-old sidter, Geraldine. Barbara Green and James Green ran from the burning house that claimed their younger brother and sister. The victims were the children of Mr. and Mrs. Loys Green. Mrs. Green, in a state of shock and under medical care following the tragedy, said she had left the younger children at home in care of the older children while she went to a nearby neighbor's to sew...The distraught mother attempted to enter the burning house in an effort to save her younger children but was restrained by a neighbor, Fayrene Standfield."
