Cover Crops

Photograph of Joe Bob Hall, of the Work Unit Conservationist and the Soil Conservation Service [WUC, & SCS], checks the effectiveness of wind control measures that this District Cooperator has established. This field is Soil Unit 70, subject to severe wind erosion without effective cover. Rye and vetch were seeded in this field in sudan stubble. A seed crop was harvested from the sudan, and the ungrazed stubble left to protect the land until the rye and vetch could provide sufficient growth. There were nearby fields without cover that were damaged by wind erosion this season. OK-253-7.
