Letter from C. E. Castañeda to John J. Herrera requesting him to find the nearest location of the Chilean Consulate to obtain a visa for him, for his upcoming trip to Chile, Brazil and Argentina. Castañeda has already sent his application for a visa to the Consulates of Brazil and Argentina. On the letter handwritten in pencil: "Hurry, a favor to consider. 8th floor, P5111, New Orleans...Consul of Chile"

Letter from Raoul Cortez, LULAC President General, to officers and members of LULAC Councils, dated February 10, 1949. The letter begins with a request to disregard an earlier correspondence dated January 5, 1949, which was written in response to issues raised at a Regional Convention in Houston, Texas. The President General is asking members to approve reimbursement of expenses incurred by LULAC officers during a trip to Washington, D.C. to meet with executives and legislators regarding civil rights and segregation issues. The second proposal concerned assessment of a fifty cent per member donation towards salaries for a professional organizer, a full-time Secretary General, and a paid Legal Advisor.

Letter from Raoul Cortez, LULAC National President, to all officers and councils of LULAC, dated September 8, 1949. This is a notification of a called special meeting of the Supreme Council to be held October 8 and 9, 1949 in San Antonio, Texas. The meeting will approve the new constitution and by-laws, set up the permanent home office, and discuss redistricting.

Letter from Bob Cruz, Texas LULAC Regional Governor, to all Texas Councils of LULAC dated November 25, 1949. This is a call for a Regional Convention to be held in Corpus Christi on January 28 and 29, 1950. It also contains requests for monthly reports, plans for local Christmas programs, and meeting dates of local councils.

Letter from Bob Cruz, LULAC Texas Regional Governor, to all Texas Councils of LULAC dated November 25, 1949. This is a notification of the upcoming Regional Convention to be held in Corpus Christi, Texas, on January 28 and 29, 1950. Cruz asks for hotel reservation requests, resolutions and recommendations to be presented, and monthly reports of local council activities. On the reverse side of this letter is a typed draft of a telegram from John J. Herrera, Acting Texas Regional LULAC Governor, asking for a program of the convention and conveying hotel reservation requests.

Letter from Robert M. Dominguez, Acting Secretary of El Paso, Texas, LULAC Council, to John J. Herrera LULAC Regional Governor dated January 11, 1949. In response to the invitation to the upcoming Regional Convention, the El Paso LULAC Council is unable to attend.

This is a certification that Louis G. Wilmot has been appointed to attend the Regional LULAC Convention on January 29 and 30, 1949 in Houston, Texas.

Letter from George J. Galvez, Secretary of LULAC Council Number 1, Corpus Christi, Texas, to John J. Herrera, LULAC Regional Governor, dated January 12, 1949. This is a request to disregard previous copies of credential letters sent in error.

Letter from Gamewell D. Gantt, Jr., Secretary of the Sons of the Republic of Texas, typed on organization letterhead and dated February 17, 1949. The letter informs members of the meeting to be held on March 2, 1949 at the Junior League. It briefly describes the itinerary and reservation instructions.

Western Union telegram from Emilia Hernandez, President of Kingsville Ladies LULAC Council #20 to Raoul Cortez dated January 28, 1949. The Ladies Council #20 informs LULAC that the 50 cent assessment will cause them to forfeit their charter as they cannot afford the payment. The reverse side has a handwritten note regarding LULAC Youth Month participation.

Letter from John J. Herrera, Texas Regional Governor of LULAC and Advisor, Harris County March of Dimes Committee to "Whom It May Concern" dated January 21, 1949. This letter was to introduce members of Houston LULAC selected to solicit funds from other LULAC members, businesses and individuals on behalf of the Harris County March of Dimes Campaign.
