Photograph used for a story in the Daily Oklahoman newspaper. Caption: "Charles D. Carey, grand jury foreman, bought 28 tax resale lots for $84 in 1940 and sold them last month for $6,000 to berard Moss, one of the county tax dealers under study by the jury. Sale of the lots, brought to light to light by a check of county records, was readily admitted by Carey wednesday night. he insisted, however, that he can act impartially as foreman of the jury. Moss mortgaged 26 of the lots for a $26,000 building loan and is building 12 houses on the property in Frost Heights addition, between SE 27 and SE 28, Lindsay and High. Warranty deeds issued Moss were notarized August 17 and August 26, the latter five days before the grand jury convened, but Carey said the sales were completed in a verbal agreement some time before."
