"The problem of this thesis is to determine through survey and comparative study the effect of the activity program of Denton's El Centro, the youth center, on the youth of the City of Denton...methods of operation and internal organization of youth centers, the purpose of the centers and the results of some of the activities are outlined. Members of the Denton youth center were interviewed; the information gained from the interviews was recorded on prepared questionnaires. Various types of activities at Denton's youth center are discussed. The study also attempts to reveal by means of tables those activities which are more important to the male youth of Denton. A discussion of the treatment of the youth problem is given with conclusions based upon the principles and practices set forth in the foregoing chapters."-- leaf 2.

In this study an effort is made to determine how certain factors are related to success in elementary college accounting at North Texas State College. The factors which are considered are: grades made in high school bookkeeping, size of high school attended, sex, age, military service, marital status, intelligence, college classification of the student, and high school bookkeeping credit earned by the student.

There is at present no way to tell what the correlations between personality self-rating scores and sociometric scores. One might suppose, as a rule of thumb, that such a correlation would be higher than .50 in most groups. This relationship, between sociometric scores and scores on personality self-rating scales, is the subject under investigation in the present study.

The purpose of this study is to determine the amount of crude fiber in the diet and the laxation rate of college women consuming self-selected diets.

The problem of this study was to determine the apparent relationship between classroom behavior problems and the emotional stability of twenty-five pupils in the second grade of the Sam Houston Elementary School, Denton, Texas.

The problem under consideration is to determine the changes in group responsibility in a second grade as a result of concerted effort. The concerted efforts made in this experiment were telling, reading, and dramatizing stories, poems, and songs of responsibility; discussing of stories, poems, songs, and filmstrips of responsibility; the assigning of definite classroom responsibility; and the assigning of definite study responsibility. This study attempts to answer the question, how much change, positive or negative, will occur in group responsibility as a result of the above-mentioned efforts?

The eightfold purpose of this study was: 1. to evaluate the programs of boys' clubs sponsored by organizations in McKinney, Denton, and Dallas, Texas; 2. to obtain and study the aims and objectives of the programs of each club; 3. to obtain and study the aims and objectives of the active membership of the clubs; 4. to evaluate the programs in the light of an over-all guidance program; 5. to determine the different activities and their significance of mental, physical, emotional, economical, social, and moral phases of life; 6. to determine the social and economic status of the membership of the clubs; 7. to discover in which clubs there is a definite need for future professional preparation of adult leaders; 8. to discover the carry-over value of adolescent training through clubs into adult life.

The purpose of this study was to determine the relation of mechanical aptitude and academic grades of students who have completed a minimum of sixty semester hours of college credit and who were enrolled in the major departments of North Texas State College.

"This study shows three things: (1) a precedent for the expenditure of public funds to teach electricity in our public high schools has already been established by the school system in the larger school systems of Texas, (2) the rural families living on electrified farms in the North Texas area want instruction of this type given to the boys and girls in their communities, and (3) both the rural people and the professional people of the North Texas area believe that instruction dealing with the use of electricity and electrical equipment had spread until by 1935 more than twenty-one million homes, about eighty percent of the total in America at that time, were electrified, only eleven American farms out of every 100 had central-station electricity. The problem of the present study is to investigate specific background areas of pupils who show average use of English, and of pupils who are recognized as having below-average use of English. The study will attempt to bring out certain tendencies, by the use of standardized tests, which the two groups investigated possess in varying degrees. The aim of the study will be to bring out and evaluate the differentiating background factors as revealed by the results obtained on the standardized tests used in the investigation.
