Photograph used for a story in the Daily Oklahoman newspaper. Caption: "Way out in the Antelope Hills country of Western Roger Mills country lives a spare, graying ranch woman with a hobby that seems strange in the rough vastness of her homeland. She does oil paintings of ranch, animal life and scenic vistas, and they are of such quality as to command a ready sale at good prices whenever she wants to sell. Mrs. Augusta J. Corson Metcalfe, 67, has lived on or within a few miles of her present homesite near Durham for the last 56 years. With her son, Howard, she owns and operated 640 acres of ranch land. She rides a prim side-saddle, and between ranch and housekeeping chores does the deft, colorful oils that have attracted widespread attention throughout western Oklahoma. Favorite subjects for her brush are the quarterhorses, the cowboy, the steer and the rugged land."
