A preliminary evaluation of the explosion jet-propulsion engine

Report investigating the theoretical sea-level performance of an explosion jet-propulsion engine similar to the German flying bomb to show the effects on performance of heat added and supercharging and a comparison was drawn between the performance of the explosion engine and the constant-pressure engine. The explosion engine was found to be more efficient than the constant-pressure engine at compressor pressure ratios below 3.0 when the maximum gas temperature of the constant-pressure engine is 1600 degrees Fahrenheit.

Wind-tunnel tests of the 1/8-scale powered model of the Curtiss XBTC-2 airplane 2: preliminary investigation of lateral stability and control

Report presenting testing of a model of the Curtiss XBTC-2 airplane in the 7- by 10-foot tunnel. This report consists of a preliminary investigation of the lateral stability and control of one particular configuration of the airplane. Results regarding the effect of wing plan form and power at small and large angles of yaw, the effect of upturned wing tips, outboard flap modification, canopy opening, aileron control, and rudder-free characteristics are provided.
