Caption says, "A-4 Altus Project. Diamond drilling outfit set up on drill hole No. 8, one hundred and sixty feet west of proposed dam axis. Drill rig is placed on platform on two metal barges. Hole is drilled 59 feet deep. Foot bridge built on empty drums is means to cross soft mud between concrete retaining wall and drill rig."
