Senatorial District No. 24 is composed of Mitchell, Scurry, Nolan, Fisher, Haskell, Jones, Taylor, Callahan, Shackleford, Throckmorton, Stephens and Eastland Counties.

A Western Union telegram sent to the Honorable Sam Russell, Congressman Elect, 17th District, Washington, D. C., from T. N. Carswell, Commander Parramore Post, Abilene, Texas, dated October 21, 1940. Carswell issues an invitation to Russell to address the Armistice Day special program honoring National Guard "called to Colors" and the men recently registered for defense training noting his speaking as a splendid opportunity for both him and them.
