They would not be able to go but to phone or wire anything she needed and was praying that God bless, comfort and keep close to her.

The document announces a meeting to be held in Abilene, Texas, Thursday December 12 [1940] at 10:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church. "Purpose of the meeting: To canvas the liquor drug store situation in our dry territory, and plan for corrective measures through our representatives in the State's lawmaking body." Senatorial District No. 24 is composed of Mitchell, Scurry, Nolan, Fisher, Haskell, Jones, Taylor, Callahan, Shackleford, Throckmorton, Stephens and Eastland Counties.

The report is titled "Report of Committee on Statement of facts, findings and Proposals of the Dry Forces of the 24th Senatorial District in Texas, in conference December 12, 1940." The committee endorses the plan of the Texas United Drys to frame proposed legislation that will protect Dry Territory against indiscriminate sale of liquor by prescription in said Dry Territory; makes a recommendation that an organization in each County of said 24th District be set up to further the cause and purpose of the Texas United Drys; "a permanent district organization was set up with T. N. Carswell, Chairman, J. D. Riddle, Secretary and C. A. Long, Treasurer".

A Western Union telegram sent to the Honorable Sam Russell, Congressman Elect, 17th District, Washington, D. C., from T. N. Carswell, Commander Parramore Post, Abilene, Texas, dated October 21, 1940. Carswell issues an invitation to Russell to address the Armistice Day special program honoring National Guard "called to Colors" and the men recently registered for defense training noting his speaking as a splendid opportunity for both him and them.

Receipt for a package shipped via Railway Express Agency from Sayles & Sayles to Floyd C. Dodson. The top half of the receipt has the terms and conditions for the company and the bottom half has the details of the shipment.

A postcard addressed to Mr. T. N. Carswell, Abilene, Texas From Sarah Anna Simmons Crane, Yankton, South Dakota, postmarked Yankton, South Dakota, April 27, 1940. The reverse side includes correspondence written to Mr. Carswell from Sarah Anna Simmons Crane, dated April 26, 1940. Crane expresses how glad she was that Carswell spoke at President Sandefer's Funeral. She thought it so fine of him to suggest a building as a Memorial.

Declines the invitation for Governor Carr regarding the invitation from Carswell to attend Army Day due to April seventh being the last day of Legislature.
