Sloughing Banks

Photograph of sloughing banks from recent flood of Chickaskia River has caused considerable damage and engangered building on this farm. About 20 feet of bank 200 feet long has fallen into the river.

Santa Fe (ATSF) 3184

A photograph print showing Santa Fe 3184, 2-8-2, on a livestock extra [white flags] taking on water at Kaw City, OK. (Note man on water crane.) The 229 "mikes" just like this one were the workhorses on Santa Fe freight except in mountainous areas. The line is now abandoned and under about 30 feet of water of Kaw Lake. The outhouse showing behind fromt (sic) of engine was moved to new site of Kaw City along with the depot.
