UNIDENTIFIED Man on Tractor Rebuilding Contour Ridges and Planting Bermudagrass/Pryor Project

Photograph of W. T. Gooldy using a tractor to rebuild this field's contour ridges and plant Bermudagrass for additional protection. The back of the photograph proclaims, "Rebuilding of contour ridges in the fall and covering with Bermuda grass and to protect it from winter freezing on ridges. Rebuilt with tractor and 4-disk one-way. Mr. Gooldy contour ridged 63-acres of pasture lands in spring of 1937. The Pryor CCC Camp sodded these ridges soon after they were built. The Bermuda grass made enough growth to completely cover most of the ridges, and supplied good grazing most of the summer. The cooperator mowed most of this pasture during the summer months to control weed growth. The cooperator plans to construct contour ridges on 380 acres in the fall of 1937. The Soil Conservation Services agrees to plant Bermuda grass in spring of 1938."
