Studio portrait of Washington Irving Carroll, three-quarters view, seated in a chair, with one hand resting on the arm of the chair and the other hand holding the lapel of his jacket. He is wearing a suit, vest and tie. The photographer's name is printed in the lower right corner of the photograph. Carroll, originally from St. Louis, served as minister of the First Presbyterian Church, Marshall, Texas, from Nov. 7, 1920 to Feb. 19, 1934. Written in pencil on the back: "Probably Washington Irving Carroll, D D, Pastor of 1st Presbyterian Church, Marshall, TX 1920s to early 30s. Stamped on the back: "Please credit Strauss Portrait, St. Louis."

[School baseball team, 1915]

Group photograph of an elementary school baseball team and their teacher seated on the steps of the school. The nine boys are wearing their school clothes, but a few appear to wear athletic shoes. They each have a mitt and two hold bats. The female teacher sits beside the boys, wearing high button shoes, and holds a baseball in her hands. Part of a bicycle is visible in the background. Written below the second boy from the right is the name Sims, Jr., 1915. Written on the back of the board are the names of a few of those in the picture. In the first row the teacher: Miss Louise Adams, boy to her right: Joe Cockrell, boy on the far right: Laurie Martin, boy to his left, Sims McCutchan, Jr. On the second row, only the middle boy is identified giving only his last name, Applebaum. The double doors of the school are open behind the group.

Ginocchio Hotel, Marshall, Texas

Black and white halftone postcard of the Ginocchio Hotel, Marshall, Texas, 705 N. Washington Ave. The view is from the southeast, showing the south side of the building and part of the facade. Corbelled bricks mark the top of the second floor. A shed roof supported by poles covers the sidewalk in front of the building. Part of a sign saying "Drug Store" is visible beneath the shed roof. There are several brick chimneys. On the side of the building is an underground storage room or storm cellar with one of the doors open. The two-story brick, gable-roof building was designed by architect C. G. Lancaster in 1896. It was built as a railroad hotel, close to the railroad depot. Two telephone poles are in the foreground. On the white border below the image is printed the title, "Ginocchio Hotel, Marshall, Texas." There is no postmark or message on the back of the card.

Henderson's Garage, Marshall, Texas

Black and white halftone postcard showing Henderson's Garage in Marshall, Texas, located on the south side of the square, west of the city hall. The service bays were inserted into an older one-story brick masonry building. The two open bays have a sign above them saying "Auto Repair Shop" and a smaller sign between them saying "Gasoline 10 cents." The third bay is closed with a bench in front of it, and the fourth bay has the sign "Accessories" above it. Above all four bays a projecting corrugated iron canopy has "Ford" painted in large letters on it. "Henderson's Garage" is painted on the brick wall above the canopy and a separate commercial sign saying "Henderson's Garage" is mounted on top of the brick facade wall. Printed at the top of the image in red ink is the title "Henderson's Garage, Marshall, Texas." Printed on the left edge of the back: "39288 - Frey Wholesale Post Card Co., Pubs., Dallas." The card is addressed to Mrs. John Eguer, Garfield, Minn.
