A few pedestrians are walking on the sidewalks and a few wagon are parked in front of buildings. The ladies are wearing long skirts and wide brimmed hats. Commercial buildings line both sides of the street. A few of the buildings have sidewalk canopies. Printed on the top of the card in black ink is the title "Looking West on Austin Street, Marshall, Texas." There is no postmark or message on the back of the card. Printed along the left edge of the back of the card is: "Published expressly for Duke & Ayres Nickel Stores. Made in U.S.A." The code A-33879 is in the lower right of the message section. The printing on the back is in green ink.

The photograph was taken in a photographer's studio with a plain backdrop.
