[Doctor William A. Barton]

Doctor William A. Barton. Photo circa 1905: Dr. Barton, doctor and druggist in Clay County. Lived in Newport area c.1885 - c. 1900, then in Bellevue until his death in 1922. He ran a pharmacy in Bellevue with his wife's step-father, William C. Hood. His store was destroyed in the 1906 tornado. Buried in Bellevue cemetery.

[Freshman 1 Class, 1905, North Texas State Normal College]

Photograph of the Freshman 1 class of 1905, North Texas State Normal college. The 26 young women and 10 young men stand in rows on the steps of brick building, with Professor J. A. Sanders (Arithmetic and Book-keeping) standing at front center. Photographic print mounted on card. Written on photograph are three identifications, "Mr. J. A. Sanders", "Josie", and "ERW"(?). Reverse of mount with various handwritten notes: "College. J.S. Kendall, President"; "Freshman Class Freshmen 1 North Texas State Normal 1905" and "Class 1905". The location is tentatively identified as an exterior side stairwell of the Main Building, which was constructed as the second permanent building on the NT campus in 1904. It was located on Hickory Street, about where the Auditorium Building now sits. It was torn down in 1923.

George V. Huffmon

Portrait of George V. Huffmon as a young man in a dark suit and vest and a white shirt. There is a small photo of two women wearing hats pinned to his left lapel. The image is over-matted to an oval shape. We are guessing on the date of creation based upon other photos that we have of him that were taken around the same time period. George Van Buren Huffmon was born on Nov. 24, 1886 in Lee County, Virginia. He moved to Texas and later enlisted in the United States Army. He was stated at Camp Columbia near Havana, Cuba from Feb. 1906 until his discharge in September of that year as a 1st Class Private with "Excellent" as the last remark. He became a nurse in the U.S. Medical Corps. George Huffmon died in Jan. 27, 1933 in Pampa, Texas.
