Photograph of two mail carriers and the Postmaster standing in front of the U.S. Post Office in 1905 in Round Rock. From left to right: Bob Carlson, father of Carlo and Leon Carlson, unidentified, and Postmaster Robert Hyland, 1897-1911. Each mail carrier stands in front of a horse-drawn hack, which they would drive all around the countryside to deliver mail, and which are identified by signs reading "US Mail Route No. --". Both carriers hold bags of mail, and Carlson also holds a metal cash box. The post office behind them is a limestone building with double front doors, arched glass windows, pillars, and a covered porch.

Theodore Roosevelt Visiting Ft. Worth, Texas

Three photographs stitched together showing an enormous crowd gathered to greet President Theodore Roosevelt in front of the Texas and Pacific Railway Station. The crowd contains men and women, all wearing hats. The men wear suits and the women wear dresses or blouses and skirts. The train station is on the left side of the frame and on the right side, in the background, are several buildings including a drug store, a pharmacy, and a saloon. People are seated on rooftops and telephone poles. Throughout the photograph are telephone and electricity poles and on the far left side of the photograph is a train.

Grocers and Butchers Assosciation of North Fort Worth, 1905

Photograph of at least a hundred people gathered on the steps of a large stone building. Women in white dresses and hats and children take up the first couple of rows. Behind them are many men, mostly dressed in suits, ties and hats. There are two signs and one banner held up that read, "The Best Thing That Ever Happened for the Mfg'rs. Clobbers and Retailers", "2nd Anual Picnic & Barbecue, Grocers & Butchers, Ass'n." and "Grocers and Butchers Association. Behind the group are six tall pillars and open windows with people leaning out of them. On the bottom right-hand corner of the mat is printed, "Photo by C.L. Swartz, 108 West Fifth St., Fort Worth, Texas."

[Men and women kneeling around a stone]

Photographic print of nine men and women kneeling around a stone with "D. Rugeley" painted on it in white. Another women is standing partially out of the frame at the left. According to a paper taped to the back of the image, the picture was probably taken at the site where John DeForest Rugeley was killed (Sept. 1862) at Woodbury, TN during the Civil War. Rugeley was in Co. B of Terry's Texas Rangers and was from Matagorda County. Rugeley's sister Minnie married Col. Philip E. Peareson and moved to Richmond in 1867. See paper on back of photo for additional family information. Substrate has been cropped close to image at bottom, right, and top sides. Substrate at left side is missing several large pieces. An 8.5 cm x 5.5 cm triangle is missing from the image at the center top. Upper right corner of image is missing. 4 cm semi-circular area is missing from image near bottom of right edge. Small triangular area is missing from image at bottom left.
