Raapa lived with his grandmother and was very obedient. The other men in the village came to hate Raapa because a woman was devoted to him. They decided to kill him. A tiger came by and ate the pig belonging to a widow with 2 daughters. The widow invited the men to kill the tiger, offering a daughter to whoever is successful. No one was able. Raapa asked for some spinning tools to use as a weapon. He applied poison to one and hit the tiger with it. The tiger taunted Raapa before the poison took effect and killed it. Jealous of his success, the other men invited Raapa on a hunting trip, trapping him underground with the hedgehogs.

The baskets are made from cane and bamboo, bamboo is used as a holder or a support to strengthen the baskets in their design. A knife called tangsi and its holder which is made of bamboo. Story of Arthluuk & Raangchel as told by Shangchrek Tholung

Swamy Tholung Ksen describes to with Shobhana Chelliah, Sumshot Khular, and David Peterson how traditional bamboo and cane trays, known as Dap, are made. This was taken in Thamlapokpi village, in Chandel district of Manipur.

The story of Raapa [Raapa paomin] told by Shetphong Sankhil. Raapa Paomin is a story which explains the use and creation of a particular ornament by the Lamkang. It is because of the character Raapa that the Lamkang have those ornaments today.

Here we are setting up the microphone and getting the speaker, Shangchrek Tholung (married to Jangvei), comfortable. She converses with Sumshot Khular who is off camera and is giving her instructions on what to say. The recording was done in Swamy Ksen's house in Thamlapokpi with David Peterson and Shobhana Chelliah in attendance.

This blessing, called Smul Kpnaak, is used by elders to mark significant life events for younger couples. This ritual blessing is to be used by an older person addressing younger people- Sumshot Khular shares the beautiful words here which translated mean: This is the feather for your good health, your long life, your well-being. May you be blessed with many daughters, with many sons, with many crops, with livestock, with wealth and riches. ‎‎May you be blessed with knowledge and understanding without end, and with overflowing riches. May you be blessed with abundant livestock. May your children be as numerous as the stars. May they be as numerous as the sands of the sea. ‎‎Even if misfortune, bad storms (of life), disease and hunger come (to you). With your left hand push them away, and with your right hand bring the blessings closer to you. ‎‎May it be so for your life, may it be so for your good health. ‎‎May your life be as long as the banyan tree. May Heaven grant you strength and happiness.
