Unpublished newspaper copy for an article to be headlined "Black Civic Groups Wants [sic] to Honor Veteran Journalist" about the efforts of the Jackson, Mississippi chapter of The Links, Inc. to raise funds to assist Hazel Brannon Smith. Smith was a publisher and journalist who won a Pulitzer Prize for her editorials in support of the civil rights movement, a stance which resulted in her ostracism from local white society and her newspaper's eventual bankruptcy. Aaronetta Pierce (referred to here as A. M. Pierce) passed this unpublished copy of the article on to Margaret Winn, president of the San Antonio chapter. Includes handwritten notes.

Letter from Edwina Gray Higgins to members of the The Links, Inc. in the western United States reminding members of important Western Area business for the new year. Chapters are requested to send all required documentation, including a membership roster, officer list, bylaws, and taxation forms to the area director. Also, chapters should consider making donations to a number of funds, including a relief fund for victims of an earthquake in Oakland. Higgins suggests that because breast cancer rates are increasing in the general population chapters should plan a day for members to receive mammograms in lieu of a regular chapter meeting.

Letter from Vernis Hudgins to Richard Gonsalves requesting written confirmation that he is available to come to San Antonio, Texas. The San Antonio chapter of The Links, Inc. invited Gonsalves and the Dance Theatre of Harlem to travel to San Antonio for a residency and tour in the fall of 1981. The chapter is prepared to apply for grants in order to sponsor the group but requires written confirmation from him that they will be available before taking any further action.

This February 17, 1988 letter from the parliamentarian of the San Antonio chapter of The Links, Inc. addresses concerns by chapter members about meeting protocol and procedures. Included with the letter is a photocopy of a two-page excerpt from Marguerite Grumme's "Basic Principles of Parliamentary Law and Protocol."
