The Links National Newsletter is a publication of the national office of The Links, Inc., issued by the organization's president. It contains letters from the president as well as information about the national assembly, regional conferences, financial statements, the organizational charter and bylaws, officers and elections, service programs, chapter reports, and other activities of The Links, Inc.

Memorandum from Dolly D. Adams to the executive council, chapter presidents, and all members of The Links, Inc. announcing that annual meeting of The Links Foundation will be held November 15, 1985 in Washington D.C.

National programs include citizenship, environment concerns, health and manpower, housing, minority businesses, re-tooling women, senior citizens, and the women-power commission. International programs include U.S. foreign policy, the United Nations Association of U.S.A., Human Rights Day, and world affairs.

Memorandum from Edwina Higgins to members of The Links, Inc. in the western United States. Higgins reminds them that all active members must pay the $60 assessment. The proceeds of these assessments will be used to host a gala night at the upcoming national assembly in Dallas, Texas. Lee is announcing the national offices which are open in the next election, including which of the present officeholders are eligible for reelection. She provides instructions for chapters wishing to nominate a candidate for national office.

Memorandum from Hazelle E. Boulware to the chapters and executive council of The Links, Inc. stating that the organization has expanded its youth services to include issues related to juvenile justice and delinquency. She asks that all chapters appoint a member to monitor juvenile justice issues in their cities. Includes a policy statement on youth services.

Memorandum from Irma P. Jones to The Links, Inc.'s chapter chairpersons for services to youth. Jones is announcing the creation of a new national day of observance to bring awareness to the need for improved self-esteem in black youths. Jones asks that each chapter help by either publicizing the Links' awareness campaign or planning an outreach event for the day. The day of observance will be April 5, 1992.

Memorandum from Lois A. Sayles to members of the Executive Council of The Links, Inc. Sayles is submitting the biographical profiles of candidates for national office. Includes a list of candidates who were nominated for office by chapters other than their own chapter as well as all of the profiles. The candidates for national president are Dolly D. Adams and Marion S. Sutherland. Thelma Hardiman is the only candidate for national vice president; Ruth Williams is the only candidate for secretary; and Leatrice Dodd is the only candidate for treasurer. Zola Boone and Mose Hooks are both at-large candidates. The candidates for the national nominating committee are Vivian Bell, Shirley Colvin, Etta Mae Dawson, Lettie Green, Clementyne Guy, Lulu Hardesty, Vera Hayes, Josephine Kennedy, Hazel Mapwell, Uarda Parnell, and Elizabeth Youngue.

Memorandum from Louise Q. Lawson to chapter presidents and members of The Links, Inc. stating that the organization's finances are sound. Because the Links is in good financial standing, a decision was made to create The Links Foundation, a nonprofit organization that will process and distribute funds for philanthropic purposes on behalf of Links.

Due to inflation, Links will run a substantial deficit for the year, and action must be taken to avoid running deficits in subsequent years. Lawson proposes increasing fees, dues, and fines for members to raise the necessary revenue to keep the organization from going bankrupt. She is presenting a budget and finance report to all members so that they can discuss appropriate measures. Includes statement of current assets, statement of income, actual and projected expenses for 1979-1980 and 1980-1982, summary and comparison of budget percentages, and information about the national assembly.
