Effects of Finite Lattice Heat Capacity on Spin Lattice Relaxation: Theory and Numerical Analysis (open access)

Effects of Finite Lattice Heat Capacity on Spin Lattice Relaxation: Theory and Numerical Analysis

Report discussing the transient magnetic behavior of a paramagnetic substance, after an initial disturbance, considered theoretically for a variety of situations in which the lattice temperature rises as a result of energy flow from the magnetic (electron spin) system. Next, the opposite extreme is considered - that in which the resonant and remaining modes are totally uncoupled. Finally, there is a consideration of the case of spins coupled only to the resonant phonons, which in turn are coupled to a constant temperature bath, whether this be the helium or the remaining modes.

Microwave Impedance Measurements and Standards (open access)

Microwave Impedance Measurements and Standards

Report presenting a survey and discussion of well-known microwave impedance measurement techniques. The discussion includes an introduction which emphasizes basic concepts and reflection coefficient-voltage standing-wave ratio relationships. Sources of error in the various measurement techniques are discussed and methods to reduce errors are presented. Methods using rotating loops and resonance lines are included and a brief discussion of microwave impedance standards is given.

Thermodynamic and Related Properties of Parahydrogen From the Triple Point to 100 K at Pressures to 340 Atmospheres

From Introduction: "In the present report, therefore, polynomials representing isotherms and isochores are combined with numerical methods of computation for the purpose of improving accuracy, in particular for the derivatives of the P-p-T surface."

Tables of Electron Radial Functions and Tangents of Phase Shifts for Light Nuclei (Z=1 through 10) (open access)

Tables of Electron Radial Functions and Tangents of Phase Shifts for Light Nuclei (Z=1 through 10)

From Introduction: "This Monograph, supplemented by ORNL-3207 [9], should eliminate completely the need for use of approximate formulas (e.g. those of Kotani and Ross [10]). The formulation of the problem has been summarized in sec. II. This is followed in sec. III by a discussion of the methods used in numerical calculations. Sec. IV contains a detailed explanation to facilitate the use of present tables."

Line Parameters and Computed Spectra for Water Vapor Bands at 2.7 mu (open access)

Line Parameters and Computed Spectra for Water Vapor Bands at 2.7 mu

From Foreword: "This Monograph is one of a series intended to provide fundamental information required for the estimation and interpretation of atmospheric transmittance at infrared frequencies. Part I of this Monograph presents the fundamental properties of the 2.7m water vapor band in terms of line absorptions and the integrated transmittance at any frequency for infinite resolution. Part II presents examples of the "degraded" transmittance for finite resolution, as a function of the spectral slit width, concentration, and pressure with which direct observations may be compared."

Bibliography on Atomic Transition Probabilities

Report presenting a bibliography on atomic transition probabilities. The papers are arranged according to elements and stages of ionization, and the method employed and class of transitions are indicated behind each reference. Only articles on discrete transitions, both permitted and forbidden, are listed. Also included is a supplementary list of papers dealing with transition probabilities from a general point of view, a table showing the availability of numerical material on the individual atoms and ions, and a table of conversion factors.
